Sand pockets are not enough on NJ beaches. Always use the included stakes and guy lines. Tents without proper anchoring become projectiles in 15+ mph wind.
Set up with the open side away from the prevailing wind (usually southeast in summer). The tent acts as a wind block, not a wind catcher.
