Barnegat Bay, Manasquan River, Cape May Harbor, Wildwood inlet, Sandy Hook back-bay. Avoid the Atlantic Ocean unless you have a SUP-surf board and 5+ years of experience.
Slack tide is your friend. Paddle 30-60 min after high or low tide for the smallest current. Use the tide times in our /tides hub.

Don't store inflatable SUPs fully pumped in 90°+ heat — pressure builds. Deflate to 50% if you leave it in a hot car or shed.

For 90% of NJ recreational paddling, yes. Modern high-pressure inflatables (15+ PSI) are nearly as rigid as hardshells. The remaining 10% — racing, surf, distance touring — still favors hardshells.
8-12 minutes with the included hand pump (most boards). 3-5 minutes with an electric pump (worth the $80-130 add-on if you paddle weekly).
Short trips (a week, indoors at room temp) yes. Long-term storage at full pressure or in heat damages the seams. Let it down to 30-50% if you're storing more than a week.
